Overview:

The Frontline Communicator, FC03, is a wireless and wearable video communications solution that is certified Wi-Fi and supports 802.11b/g connectivity.

In the simplest layout, the Frontline Communicator and the PC running the Frontline PC software application create a point-to-point connection. This link allows one-way video and two-way audio in real-time at low bandwidth. The proprietary protocol dynamically adjusts the bitrate in accordance with the available bandwidth between the Frontline Communicator and the PC.

Calls can be initiated from the Frontline Communicator to the PC, or vice versa, by directly inputing the far end IP address or by recalling entries from the built-in Address Book. Various networks can be used depending upon distance and available connectivity as should below.

Local Area Network:

The FC03 connects wirelessly to a Router that is on the same Local Area Network as the PC running the Frontline PC software application. Bitrates up to 700 Kbps can be achieved with up to 15 frames per second video.

ADSL:

Similar to a LAN, but with the Wi-Fi Router connected via an ADSL to the Internet and onward to the LAN with the PC running the Frontline PC software application. Bitrates up to 700 Kbps can be achieved with up to 15 fps video.

3G Network:

Mobility can be achieved by using a 3G Wireless Router that provides access to the 3G Broadband Network, but is limited to areas with 3G coverage, most populated towns and cities. Bitrates up to 384Kbps with video at up to 15 fps.

Satellite Network:

The Inmarstat BGAN satellite offers the ultimate connectivity option for true mobility by covering most of the world's landmass and not just major cities. Thrane & Thrane have accredited the Frontline Communicator for use with their Explorer® 700 BGAN terminal. Bitrates up to 512 Kbps can be achieved with up to 15 fps video.

MESH Network:

The Frontline Communicator can also be used to freely roam within a MESH Wireless zone where it seamlessly switches between MESH Access Points. Bitrates up to 700 Kbps can be achieved with up to 15 fps video.
